With Kyle Dubas' departure from the Leafs organization, they have started fresh with former Flames GM Brad Treliving, and it seems that since he has joined the Leafs front office, trade rumors have skyrocketed.
This trade hasn't panned out so far for the Flames however, as we saw a steep decline in Huberdeau's point totals with Florida, dropping from 115 points with the Panthers in the 2021/22 season, to 55 points with the Flames in the 2022/23 season. Whereas Matthew Tkachuk hit new career highs down south, scoring 109 points in the regular season and added 24 playoff points, just narrowly missing out on the Stanley Cup.
This begs the question, should the Leafs trade their superstar for a huge return package, or do whatever it takes to resign him?
