Walman, 28, had a standout season with Detroit last year, tallying 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) in 63 games, ranking fourth among Red Wings defensemen.
Walman, drafted by St. Louis Blues in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, had a successful college career at Providence College, and was part of the 2014-15 national championship team.
With Tampa Bay's second-round pick added to their assets, the Sharks now have three second-round picks (33, 42, and 53) and five in the top 60 (1, 14, 33, 42, 53) of the upcoming NHL Draft. Once can argue Mike Grier just fleeced Steve Yzerman, even if the Red Wings GM was trying to get rid of $3.4 million.
