The Anaheim Ducks have been building a talented young core over the past few years, but now, things appear to be changing, as they don't seem to be interested in an extension for one of their brightest young stars.
The future face of the NHL?
Over the past two years, Trevor Zegras has been one of the most talked about players in the entire NHL, and with his skill, flair and confidence, he's captured the imagination of youth hockey fans and players everywhere.
This has given him plenty of momentum as a future superstar, as he's tallied two seasons of over 60 points despite being 22-years old, so the Ducks should be lining up to give him a big time extension, right?
An embarrassing offer
Wrong.
According to a recent report, the Ducks have offered Zegras between $3M and $4M a year on his next contract, the same deal given to Corey Perry by the Chicago Blackhawks, and now, Zegras has sent them a message.
On his Instagram, Zegras has now wiped all ties to the Ducks, and unless they have any interest in paying him much closer to the $7M per year given to Troy Terry this summer, this story may get much more interesting very soon.
