Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson looking to make major trade?

Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson has been busy this offseason, trading up in the draft once already. He completed a deal with the New York Islanders, sending picks 20, 54, and 61 in exchange for picks 18 and 50.

The move immediately lead to speculation among fans. Many believe that Davidson and the Blackhawks may not be done yet as they look to accelerate the rebuild. The team will already be drafting 2nd overall after adding Connor Bedard last year. Adding yet another top 10 pick could get the team back in the playoffs sooner than expected.

That may be exactly what happens too. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman talked about this possibility on 32 thoughts this morning. He stated that he believes the trade between the Islanders and Blackhawks is a precursor to one of the teams moving up in the draft again.

One would think that the Blackhawks would be more likely to move up in the draft given they were the ones moving up in this trade. All of this speculation is certainly making the draft more interesting, so be sure to tune in next month to see where all the pieces fall.
