Bruce Boudreau Predicts Connor McDavid's insane future contract
A few years ago, Connor McDavid signed a massive deal worth $12.5 million per year, but after several players have topped that, what will his next deal look like?

This was the question posed to former Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau recently on NHL Network, and unsurprisingly, he believes we are about to see another record set.

Coyle: So whenever is contract is up, what do you think Connor gets? I mean, based on who knows what the salary cap is going to look like in a couple years.
Boudreau: He'll be what, 29 or something when it's up. It would not shock me
Coyle: Are they just going to keep leap-frogging?
Boudreau: at this moment. Yeah. I'm mean, for him to get eight years at $15 (million per). If he went eight years at whatever he's getting, ah, $12.5 (million) the last time. I mean, that wouldn't surprise me at all.
But every year it leap frogs. Look at when Erik Karlsson signed that deal. Everybody went ‘Oh my God, like this, and you look up and he's sixth or seventh on the list.
So, the money's going up. Players are going up. It's the same in every world. They'll make their money. They're not going to be hurtin'.

According to Boudreau, no one would be shocked if McDavid's next deal was eight-years, $15 million AAV, and while that doesn't compare to other sports, for the NHL, that's a massive deal.
A Cup incoming?
Coyle then reminds Boudreau that the first player to ever win a Stanley Cup while earning over $10 million a season occurred in 2022-23 with Jack Eichel, and given the way the salary cap is headed, it wouldn't be a shock to see McDavid and Draisaitl on this type of money competing for a Cup.
Either way, as the business of the NHL grows and the money goes up, so will the earnings, and even if McDavid does land a deal at $15 million per season, it's likely to be topped soon after with so many young talents coming through the league.
