The Edmonton Oilers have hired Stan Bowman as their new General Manager, and if the backlash wasn't bad enough, fans have now looked to force change.
After weeks of speculation, despite significant backlash online, the Edmonton Oilers and Jeff Jackson went ahead with the decision to hire Stan Bowman as their new General Manager. Anyone could have seen that this was a bad move, and now, Oilers fans are banding together to create a change.org petition to remove Bowman, which has now passed 3,000 signatures.
It's clear that the Oilers expected this reaction, as CEO Jeff Jackson made his X account private before making the official announcement, given his disgraceful involvement in the 2010 Kyle Beach incident that saw he and Joel Quenneville banned from the NHL. On top of that, he made some dreadful decisions while in charge of the Blackhawks, so after all the goodwill Jackson built in free agency, this is one move that has fans quick to turn on him.
