Evander Kane has been a controversial player for years in the NHL, and now that may be catching up to him in the NHL once more with the Edmonton Oilers.

The drama seemingly started for Evander Kane on Saturday when the Sportsnet cameras picked up on he and Leon Draisaitl on the bench arguing, with many looking to that moment as a potential reason for his scratch.
When the move was officially announced, Kris Knoblauch revealed that it was a maintenance day for the veteran, which very few Edmonton Oilers reporters believed. Now, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman has jumped into the conversation, revealing that it may have been the way he allowed the team to get pushed around, on top of all the recent drama that has caused his healthy scratch;
EF on 32TP about Kane's scratch:

«Kris Knoblauch came out before the Ottawa game on Sunday night and said Kane is out for maintenance you could tell the reporters who were there didn't believe it. I wondered about it too, is this a healthy scratch that they're keeping quiet. I wonder if the Oilers were just saying, we wanna do something here but we don't wanna pour gasoline on the fire... but that scratch a day after McDavid and Draisaitl getting roughed up a bit and Kane being a guy who can definitely do something, it had people wondering.»
With the Winnipeg Jets up next and the Los Angeles Kings right on the Oilers heels in the Pacific Division, they need a win badly after an 0-2 weekend, so perhaps the lineup for this game will tell us all we need to know about the story.
