Matthew Tkachuk made a statement in the Florida Panthers' storied playoff run last season, marking 24 points in 20 games played and was an impressive plus 12.

Florida's Impressive Trade Win

In one of the biggest trades of the 2022 offseason, Tkachuk was dealt from Calgary to Florida in exchange for Jonathan Huberdeau and Mackenzie Weegar, along with other trade pieces on both sides.

Tkachuk's performance this year has rendered the trade a win for Florida. In a career-best season, Tkachuk managed to score a career-high 40 goals and 69 assists for 109 points.

Best in the NHL

This impressive feat, along with his playoff performance, has Tkachuk atop of The Athletic's ranking of best contracts in the NHL.
While $9.5 million isn't a small deal in the NHL (tied for 18th highest paid), Tkachuk has the ability to continue to outperform his contract, especially if he matches his performance last season, further marking his contract as the best value in the NHL.
