Game three of the Stanley Cup final is set for tomorrow night, but that is now in jeopardy as the Panthers still have not left Florida and they may not get another chance soon due to bad weather.

The Panthers were still in Florida as of 4PM EST today as their flight scheduled for earlier in the day was cancelled due to inclement weather. Much of south Florida is currently being bombarded by a summer storm, leading to travel delays throughout the state. In fact, the Panthers were set to fly out of Ft. Lauderdale, but no flights have been allowed to leave for the past hour and a half.
The Florida Panthers remain waiting to see when they can head to Edmonton.

No flights have left Ft. Lauderdale for the past 90 minutes.

Many commercial flights have been cancelled.
Luckily, it seems as though the Panthers may have gotten a break as they were just approved for a more direct flight. However, their window for takeoff is very short so they will have to be ready to go right away.
The Florida Panthers flight was just approved for a more direct route to Edmonton, but they better get out ASAP.

There's more severe weather headed to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood Int'l Airport within the next 20 minutes.
We will just have to wait for updates to see if they were able to get off the ground in time. Hopefully they do, otherwise game five of the Stanley Cup final could potentially be delayed. Many fans are now questioning why the team didn't leave yesterday.

Many of you are asking why the Panthers didn't leave for Edmonton on Tuesday.

That's a good question.
One fan suggested that they may have delayed their travel plans due to Alexander Barkov's status. He received a high hit from Leon Draisaitl in game two, potentially giving him a concussion. Flying with a concussion is very dangerous so the team may have wanted some clarity on his status before taking off.
Is it possible that they didn't leave Tuesday or Wednesday b/c they were unsure if Barkov had a concussion?
Hopefully the Panthers will be able to make it to Edmonton today. Be sure to stay tuned to find out if that happens or not.
