A former Los Angeles Kings First Round Pick had to leave the game of a stretcher after a major hit on the boards.

Kings Youngster Injured In Game After Boarding Play

Former Los Angeles First Rounder Tobias Bjornfot was injured during an AHL game for the Kings AHL Affiliate, the Ontario Reign. Bjornfot was injured late in the first period against the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Seattle's AHL farm club. Bjornfot was hit alongside the boards by Firebirds F Jacob Melanson. A fight later broke out between the two teams, with Bjornfot visibly holding his head in pain while the fight occurred, attempting to sit up.
Bjornfot was forced to leave the game in a stretcher, and did not return. Melanson was given a five-minute major, with a ten-minute game misconduct.
Bjornfot, who was assigned to the AHL on a conditioning loan by Los Angeles, has played in just 1 game for the Kings this season, along with 3 AHL games for the Reign, having been pointless to start his time in the minors. Bjornfot has played in 117 NHL Games, all for the Kings, with 15 career Points. Bjornfot, 22, was a first round pick of the Los Angeles Kings, 22nd Overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
