The NHL is by far the most physical hockey league in the world. That being said, while injuries are inevitable, some come on truly needless plays that should be taken out of the game. Tonight we saw one such play as Brendan Gallagher made a disgusting hit on Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech.
Gallagher Given 5 And A Game For Dirty Hit On Islanders Defenseman
Hit this game late in the game with the Canadiens up by two goals. Not exactly the best time to take a needless penalty of any kind. Luckily for Gallagher, the team was able to hold onto the win, but he will very likely be getting a call from the Department of Player Safety after the hit.

The hit was completely unnecessary and Gallagher appeared to intentionally target Pelech's head on the play. The only question now is how long his suspension will be.
