After a long investigation, it appears we are closing in on results of the 2018 World Juniors incident involving Team Canada, including several players from that team being placed on leave.
How is the NHL handling these players on leave?
While we can't confirm that the four players that have been placed on leave from their NHL teams are the ones directly involved in the incident and have been contacted by the London Police, the dots are certainly there to be connected.
With all of these players away from their teams, some have been left wondering just how they are being handled, and now NHL Insider Frank Seravalli has the answer.

Subject to change, but my understanding of the current situation for the 4 #NHL players who have taken leave of absence:
- Will continue to be paid.
- Continue to count against the salary cap.
- Do not count against the roster limit (e.g. non-roster status).
Seravalli makes it clear in his post that these conditions are subject to change, and if it is revealed that these are the players involved in the incident, it's safe to say that things will change very quickly.
For now though, we continue to wait on official word regarding these players and the situation, and hope that a resolution is found soon so the victim and their loved ones can feel some justice.
