Veteran defenseman Luke Schenn has a major future as an NHL insider
The NHL is full of credible insiders, but now they may have some competition in Nashville Predators blue liner Luke Schenn.
NHL players are always talking, and while players won't often give away their future plans, it appears that may have happened in the case of Steven Stamkos and his decision to join the Nashville Predators. According to Ryan O'Reilly, defenseman Luke Schenn is more connected than most within the league, as he broke the news of Stamkos' arrival in Nashville before any top insiders.
"I got a text from him (Schenn) just before it was announced that Stamkos was coming here" O'Reilly said in an interview with TSN. "I knew we were in the mix for him but I didn't want to get my hopes up and sure enough we get him and it's just amazing".
It's unclear exactly where Schenn got the information from, but he was 100% right, as Stamkos left his long-time home in Tampa Bay to join the Predators alongside Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei in free agency. We don't know Schenn's plans for his career after hockey, as he's still got a few years left in the league, but if he wants to pursue media and a role as an insider, it's safe to say that he's already got the connections that would make him a star in the role.
