The NHL season is coming up in just a couple of weeks. With this being said many players who are left on the free agent market are starting to find their homes for the year. One superstar is still available though and one insider thinks he knows where that player will sign.
Insider Predicts Where Kane Will Go
Patrick Kane is one of the biggest names left available on the free agent market. The 34-year-old, 3 time Stanley Cup champion is still deciding where he will play next season. After having hip surgery earlier this offseason Kane is likely to miss the first couple of months of the season. With all of this in mind, one insider thinks the perfect destination for Kane is a familiar one.
The New York Rangers are still looking to contend for a Stanley Cup. They are also in need of depth scoring to surround their stars. Is a return the New York best for Kane though?
Does A Return To New York Make Sense?
The Rangers are still looking to compete in the East. They also have several young forwards that need playing time. Players like Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere have underperformed. Some of this can be attributed to a lack of significant ice time. If Kane were to be signed these players once again would take a backseat.
Patrick Kane also likely needs to play in a top-six role to be effective. He does not have the defensive capabilities to play on a bottom-six or checking line. This means regardless of whether he struggles or not he will have to play. Recent comments from Kane claim he is feeling much better than before but it is still a huge risk to take.
The NHL season is fast approaching and the Rangers need to decide if they want to give Kane another shot or ride with their young guys. Either way, the Rangers will likely experience ups and downs in the play of whoever they decide to go with.
