Matt Rempe of the New York Rangers has been on a physical tear since joining the league just a week ago, and on Saturday afternoon against a bitter rival, it continued in an amazing way.
During the first period of a 0-0 tie between the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers, rookie Matt Rempe did something that's become common place for him in his first few games; he dropped the gloves.
This time however he went against a seasoned veteran in Nicolas Deslauriers, but despite the experience advantage, Rempe held his own in what some are calling the best NHL fight in years.
At just 21-years of age, Rempe has shown no fear in his three NHL games thus far, and with the Rangers needing a presence like this ahead of a potentially deep playoff run, the rookie has stepped up.
Ultimately it was Deslauriers that got the best of this one, but Rempe has shown himself to be a force to be reckoned with, and that's likely not going to change anytime soon.
