Pinto Releases Statement Following Massive Suspension
Shane Pinto just received the longest suspension in NHL history at 41 games. NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun revealed Pinto's statement following his suspension.
«I want to apologize to the National Hockey League, the Ottawa Senators, my teammates, the fans and city of Ottawa and most importantly my family. I take full responsibility for my actions and look forward to getting back on the ice with my team.»
Pinto received a suspension for sports wagering and even though he does not have a contract right now his suspension is being served.
Pinto Makes History With Suspension
Shane Pinto is the first player in NHL history to receive a suspension for sports wagering.
The NHL finished it's investigation and found no evidence that Pinto wagered on any NHL games which has led speculation to say that the investigation started in the summer.
In March 2022 the league made it clear that the consequences for illegal sports wagering especially in the NHL would be bad and Pinto has proven it to us. A half season suspension is incredibly detramental to any player.
The only suspension that is the same length as Pinto was known dirty player Raffi Torres for a pre-season head contact hit.
