Sidney Crosby has made it clear that he wants to finish his storied career in Pittsburgh, alongside his two closest teammates and best friends, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.
A Brotherhood on Ice
Shortly after the Penguins' playoff hopes were dashed, team captain Sidney Crosby opened up about his own future, as well as that of Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang, with the Penguins.
Dave Beeston, Executive Vice President of Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Penguins, spoke out about Crosby's long-term prospects with the team.
Before recommitting to the Penguins in 2022, there were doubts as to whether Malkin and Letang would continue with the Penguins. Malkin shared his thoughts on staying in Pittsburgh for the remainder of his career.
"'If this team wants new blood and young guys and they say to me to move on, we will see...I believe in my agent and I trust him. I want to stay here. I want to play in the NHL... I hope I stay here. I hope I retire here,' Malkin said," days before signing a 4 year, $24.4M contract extension with Pittsburgh.
Crosby and Letang both joined the Penguins through the 2005 NHL Draft, with Crosby being the first overall pick and Letang getting snagged 62nd overall. Malkin, on the other hand, was the second overall pick by the Penguins in the 2004 draft.
