Completing the hatty gives Matthews 11 goals and 15 points on the season through 11 games. Not only is he on pace for 82 goals, but he is also outscoring an entire NHL team. The San Jose Sharks, who sit last in the entire league, have just 10 goals combined through 10 games. He's also on pace for 82 goals, just in case you didn't notice.
The Leafs might just be must watch television for the rest of the season if Matthews is able to keep this pace up. It would be a historic season for him individually, even if the team around him keeps letting their fans down. Despite his hat trick, the Leafs did lose 6-4 to the Buffalo Sabres tonight.
