Florida Panthers Accuse Leafs Of Colluding With NHL After Controversial End Of Game
If you were not watching the Leafs/Panthers game last night you missed one of the strangest endings to a game in recent memory. The Panthers appeared to have won in the shootout and both teams started to leave the ice but then the last goal was reviewed and eventually, the shootout continued.
Controversial Call Extends Shootout, Saves Maple Leafs
The last shooter to go in the shootout seemed to be Panthers forward
Evan Rodrigues. He appeared to beat Woll five-hole in a move that would have ended the game with a Panthers victory. However, the on-ice officials received a call from the situation room in Toronto to review the play. Upon review, it was determined that Rodrigues had double tapped the puck which is an illegal move in the shootout. As a result, the game continued.
WELL UH THAT WAS SOMETHING 🤔
Evan Rodrigues and the Florida Panthers thought they won this game in the shootout. After review the goal was called back.

Even Woll did not realize what had happened until after he what already made his way to the locker room. As a result, he had to rush back out to face another shooter.
Gregor Secures the Shootout Victory For the Leafs
Sheldon Keefe made an interesting move after all the chaos died down. The Leafs were next to go in the shootout and he sent over offseason acquisition and 4th liner
Noah Gregor to take a shot. Notably, Gregor scored the Leaf's only goal prior to the shootout.
Keefe rewarded the 25-year-old with his first career NHL shootout attempt with the Leafs and it paid dividends as the speedy center ripped it just under the crossbar.
Woll would go on to stop the next shooter, securing one of the most bizarre victories for the Leafs.
Panthers Not Happy With Officials After Controversial Call
Of course, the Panthers were not to happy with the way the game ended. Several players were seen cursing their luck and Toronto all at the same time. Head coach Paul Maurice was caught using some sentence enhancers to indicate how he felt about the call right after the game ended for real.
Maurice's players were no less happy about the situation either.
