The Leafs suffered yet another disappointing overtime loss yesterday after the team pulled off a miraculous comeback in the dying seconds of regulation to force the extra frame. Now fans and analysts alike are taking a close look at the play that ended the game.
Leafs Lose Game Where They Dominated The Bruins
Hockey fans love to talk about the deserves-to-win o'meter despite the fact that it really doesn't matter in the long run. Whichever team comes away with the points matters most. That being said, the meter seems to suggest that the Leafs should have won last night. This is what the meter looked like after the second period.

By the end of the game, the Leafs had an 81% chance to win according to the meter. Ultimately, the Leafs were lucky to get any points in the game at all, as Auston Matthews tied it up with less than 6 seconds left in the contest.
Bieksa Blames Nylander And Tavares For Leafs Loss
The play that ended the game was somewhat controversial. Not because there was a missed call or anything like that, but because two of the Leafs players on the ice, William Nylander and John Tavares, both appeared to be giving very little effort to get back on the play.
Former NHL defenseman Kevin Bieksa noted the poor effort from the Leafs star players.
"Tavares here, head should be down trying to get back into the picture. Nylander, same thing. Him and Marchand are the two that tangled at center and Marchand ends up beating him to the net and scoring the winner."
Other fans were quick to agree with him on social media.
I'm fairly certain John Tavares was exhausted here, but the lack of effort to get back and help defend is nonetheless infuriating to watch
The Leafs record fell to 12-6-4 following the overtime loss. They are currently 4th in the Atlantic division with a three-point lead on the Tampa Bay Lightning with three games in hand on them.
