The Toronto Maple Leafs made some huge moves this past summer, and while they're all promising, none could be better value for the team than landing veteran winger Max Domi.

A promising start

Domi is already looking to prove that theory right, as he kicked off the 2023-24 pre-season opener on a wing next to new center William Nylander, and already, they look to be showing signs of absolute brilliance.
The two combined several times throughout the night, as they created multiple scoring opportunities, and if this is what Toronto can expect out of their third line pairing, this will be a deep and dangerous team.

Big gambles paying off?

Many were critical of the move to push Nylander to the center position in 2023-24, especially with a need at wing alongside Auston Matthews and John Tavares, but if they can lead their respective lines to success, Nylander leading the third line could be a stroke of genius for Sheldon Keefe.
Ultimately, this is going to be a work in progress, both the new pairing and the move for Nylander, but if the team are patient with it, it looks like both moves have high potential, so it's safe to say Leafs fans should be excited after what we saw in game one of the pre-season.
