The Toronto Maple Leafs added a couple of key forwards to improve their depth this offseason. Now one of the two is reportedly going to sign an extension with the Leafs in the future.
Bertuzzi & Domi Join The Leafs
The summer both Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi signed one-year deals to be in Toronto. They were both brought in to bring grit and skill to the lineup. They join John Klingberg as the biggest additions to the Leafs in the offseason. Both Bertuzzi and Domi are reportedly ecstatic to be a part of the organization.
They will be looking to bring some much-needed stability to the supporting pieces in Toronto.
Bertuzzi Looking To Extend With The Leafs
In an appearance on SN590 Elliotte Friedman commented on Tyler Bertuzzi and his future with the Leafs.
Elliotte Friedman on SN590: "I am of the belief that Toronto wanted to sign Tyler Bertuzzi longer and I think Bertuzzi wanted to sign longer but they didn't have the ability to do it now. What does that mean after Jan 1st?"
With this quote in mind, the Leafs will likely look to extend Bertuzzi once January 1st comes along. This is because Tyler Bertuzzi is not allowed to sign an extension until this date.
Once the new year rolls around look out for an announcement assuming things are still going well between the pair. The success of Bertuzzi and Domi could also ease the tension of the looming William Nylander extension.
