Podcast Host Blasts Maple Leafs', Claims They Have No Shot at Winning the Cup

Ryan Whitney, one of the hosts of the Spittin Chiclets podcast, recently went on a tear of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He asked his fellow hosts what they thought of a list of some of the worst teams this year in the NHL, then noted that the Toronto Maple Leafs were similar to them because they have a similar amount of wins in regulation.

Whitney is saying what some Leaf fans have been quietly worrying about all season, that the Leafs have gotten lucky in the way things have played out. They have an incredible amount of games that have gone past regulation into extra time, and have ben able to be on the winning side of those games. However, some are worried that this could just be them getting lucky, and their luck might run out.

This sentiment was getting especially prudent during the Leafs' four-game losing streak that they finally ended against the Calgary Flames. It was getting especially loud as the Leafs lost leads in those games and nearly lost another 2 goal lead to the Flames if not for a hand pass challenge call.

The Leafs look to build on their past win against the Flames tonight against the Vancouver Canucks, a team that is emerging as a Stanley Cup contender this season. If the Leafs can get a win tonight, that could put a stop to some of the talk that they can't get it done in regulation.
