Later, it was announced that Liljegren would be placed on the LTIR due to a confirmed high ankle sprain.
The lack of action from the Leafs in response to the incident wasn't appreciated by Toronto's fans. Despite the acquisitions of players like Domi, Reaves, and Bertuzzi, there was no retaliation at all.
Reaves Gets Caught Lying
Ryan Reaves claimed that he didn't have the opportunity to confront Marchand because the Bruins had the last change, and they weren't on the ice at the same time.
He said at the time:
"First of all, 'Get away from the bench.' Second of all, I guess he was lucky I wasn't out on the ice with him. Yeah, unfortunately they had last chance so I didn't get any shifts against him."
However, this statement was proven to be false. Marchand and Reaves were on the ice together on two occasions after Liljegren left the game.
The good news is that 75 and 63 would both be on the ice together in two more shifts later in the game
It is hoped that Reaves will put an end to this controversy and focus on his primary role: ensuring the safety of his teammates.
Do you think the Maple Leafs will trade Ryan Reaves before his contract ends?
