While his playoff performances in Toronto have disappointed, Marner's latest actions are painting him in a new light.

Recently, through his Marner Assist Foundation, he's been involved in a fantastic project-helping to build a state-of-the-art playground for kids in the Greater Toronto Area.

It shows the 27 year-old commitment to Toronto goes beyond the ice and provides hope for him remaining in blue and white for the foreseeable future.

His deep connections to the Markham area and Toronto are well-known, and his community work reflects his emphasis on giving back to his community.

Marner is a person who likes his actions to speak louder than his words which is why he's not active on social media and you don't hear much about his contract negotiations.

However, it's possible the silence around the talks means that negotiations are quietly progressing between Marner, his agent Darren Ferris, and GM Brad Treliving. No news is good news right?

Both Marner and new coach Craig Berube have spoken positively about their future together, which could be another sign that Marner is leaning towards a long-term commitment.

Regardless, it's likely the sides will halt contract negotiations once the season begins, similar to Leon Draisaitl with the Edmonton Oilers.
