Today Zach Hyman was asked about his free agency stint that led him away from the Toronto Maple Leaf and he gave a surprising answer as to why he left the team.
In the summer of 2021, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Zach Hyman had a crucial decision to make. Zach Hyman was set to be a free agent and needed to decide whether or not to stay with his hometown team or leave. A new interview with Zach Hyman confirmed the decision was out of his control.
It's easy when it's not really your decision.
Despite not being wanted by the Toronto Maple Leafs things worked out well for Zach Hyman in the long run. He would go on to sign with the Edmonton Oilers. This season he was one of the league's leading goal scorers and has carried that success all the way into the Stanley Cup Final. Now even though it was not his decision there is no place he'd rather be than Edmonton.
