The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without one of their young key players due to a dirty hit by a notorious player.
Maple Leafs Defenseman Injured By Marchand
In tonight's matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins Brad Marchand found himself in the middle of controversy. A race for a puck in the corner turned into a nasty slewfoot from Brad Marchand to Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren. Marchand was not called for a penalty on the play.
NHL referees don't think this is a penalty on Marchand
Liljegren has not returned to the game since being injured and Marchand continues to play despite the clearly dangerous nature of the play. It will be interesting to see if the NHL goes back and assesses a fine or suspension after reviewing the hit.
