The AHL has slapped a Head Coach with a major suspension after he used a homophobic slur

AHL HC Suspended After Homophobic Remarks

The American Hockey League has suspended Chicago Wolves Head Coach Bob Nardella for 10 Games for using a homophobic slur towards an official in the third period of a game against the Texas Stars.
Nardella, who was given a misconduct during the game, was suspended for "abuse of officials". What specific language used was not reported by the league. The AHL reaffirmed support for the LGBT+ community in a statement saying,
"The American Hockey League is committed to building a culture that is safe, inclusive and free from abuse, harassment and all forms of unethical behavior or misconduct".

Nardella, a former player with the Wolves, was named the team's Head Coach for the 2023-24 AHL season after Chicago went independent from their NHL partners, the Carolina Hurricanes, in a dispute over Chicago's veteran policy for results vs Carolina's demand for emphasis on development.
Since seperating from the Hurricanes, the Wolves have had a difficult first season, sitting in last place in the AHL with a 5-13-1-1 record.
