Capitals leave Washington after more than 26 years for Virginia, according to Scott Abraham.
Anchored from 1975 to 1997 in Maryland before moving to the capital, the team announces a new amphitheater in Alexandria, Virginia, shared with the NBA's Wizards.
The state vote for an 8-million-square-foot stadium took place yesterday, submitted to the Alexandria Council for approval.
The move would negatively impact Washington, losing the aging Capital One Arena to the NHL and NBA.
