The NHL free agent market has been all over the place this summer, with several veterans remaining available, and now, we may know why one of them is yet to sign a deal.
After 1,145 games at the NHL level, Paul Stastny finds himself a free agent yet again, and after a solid campaign for Carolina a season ago, he's looking for another good deal.
Unsurprisingly, the 37-year old knows his value on the market, and has reportedly refused several PTO's this summer, instead opting to remain patient for a guaranteed deal.
Along with the likes of Phil Kessel, the free agent market has yet to develop for such veterans, but after 9 goals and 22 points a season ago, Stastny has shown he can still be a solid contributor at the NHL level.
With a month to go until the 2023-24 season begins, there's time for injuries and struggles to open up a spot for him somewhere in the league, but with so much experience, he can go into the season as a free agent with time to land a new deal.
