Police Investigating Player Who Broke Referees Arm With Massive Bodycheck
A player in the Swedish 5th-tier Hockey League recently laid a massive hit on a referee, and now is being investigated by Police for the incident.
Player Claims Hit Was Accident After Breaking Referee's Arm With Hit
We all know hockey is a physical sport, however, its not supposed to be for the referees as well. About a month ago, this wasn't the case for a referee working a game in Sweden. During the game, he was smoked by a player, which looked pretty intentional.
The player claimed after the game that the referee was getting in the way the entire game, and that it was an accident. Here is a video of the hit.

The referee was taken to the hospital after the play and was determined to have a broken arm. The player was given a suspension from the league until December 31st, 2024, over a year long.
Police Now Investigating the Incident that Led to Ref Breaking Arm
According to Expressen.se, the suspension may not be the last of the player's punishment for the play, as the Referee has chosen to report the incident to Police, and the play is now under investigation.
"From the beginning, the plaintiff thought it was a pure accident. But after seeing clips from the incident, he chose to report it to the police because he didn't think it looked like an accident.
"We have access to the video material from the match. We will interview the claimant to get a better picture of the incident. This is obviously just the beginning of the investigation, and there will undoubtedly be updates as the Police conduct their business.
