The NHL is a business as well as being entertainment and professional sport, and unfortunately, sometimes that results in plenty of hurt feelings, with none more familiar with that than Tony DeAngelo, who has been bought out of his contract not once, but twice. Despite flashing talent on the ice, he has become more of a headache than a positive for any NHL team he's a part of, and at 28-years, it appears to be the end of his career in the league at this point.
Nothing has been confirmed at this point, but given his struggles in recent years, posting a combined -34 over the past two years in Carolina and Philadelphia, there just isn't any interest in the NHL for DeAngelo on the blue line. At 28-years of age, there's plenty of time for him to turn things around if he can succeed in the KHL, but given the amount of negative headlines he comes with, he would need to do a lot to be considered an asset for an NHL team in the future.
