The media in hockey, especially in Canada have long been a major issue, and now one organization is under fire for bothering Cole Caufield during a tough time.
The NHL world has been mourning over the past week since the passing of Johnny Gaudreau, and for the most part, the coverage of the tragedy has been handled very well from the media. Unfortunately, there's always things to be critical of, and on Monday, one of those things happened, as a journalist was seen trying to bother Cole Caufield as he arrived for the funeral of his hero.
While it was a brief exchange, it has been shared on social media, and no matter how innocent, there's no excuses to bother someone at a time like that while they are attempting to grieve the passing of a teammate, friend and in Caufield's case, a hero. He has made that abundantly clear this off-season when he swiftly changed his jersey number to 13 to honour Gaudreau, and beyond this little exchange, there's just nothing that could be gained from talking to Caufield at this point.
Given the desire in Canada for hockey media to get a scoop, there's always going to be people like this, but hopefully they can show a bit more class and respect in the future as the players needed to be given their time and space at an event like this.
