The NHL's officiating has been under a microscope for some time, with plenty of criticism seemingly coming out of every game, and now, the league are looking to implement a few tweaks to the rule book.

Interesting new changes proposed by the NHL

The topic of reviews and wasting time in the NHL has been a hot one in recent years, and while many wanted to see less time wasted on reviews and more time playing hockey, the league reportedly doesn't see it that way.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the NHL have revealed that both pucks over glass and 'friendly fire' high sticking calls will eventually become reviewable by coaches challenge.
Rule tweaks in the NHL. Puck over glass will eventually be a Coaches Challenge to remove penalty as will «Friendly Fire» high stick penalties. Other small changes also expected. These are recommendations that go to the competition committee and then to board for final approval.
The recommendations will first have to go through the competition committee and then to the board to get official approval, but it appears more changes are coming to the NHL.
If the league can begin getting these calls right 100% of the time without wasting too much time, it's obviously a great thing, but as we've seen with many reviews, they often completely halt the flow and momentum of a game, so this one is a double-edged sword, and will hopefully be a positive change for the NHL moving forward.
