Logan Couture took over as Captain of the San Jose Sharks after Joe Pavelski moved on to the Dallas Stars. Since then, things haven't gone to plan in San Jose and now the captain may find himself on the move.

Teams Asking San Jose About Couture

The Sharks were a tough team to watch last season as they battled the league's worst teams for the best lottery odds. Unfortunately for them, they lost the Bedard sweepstakes to Chicago. Regardless, the team will continue to be poor for the foreseeable future. It seems as though new general manager Mike Grier understands this after he traded away star players Timo Meier and Erik Karlsson over the course of the last year. Now it seems that current captain Logan Couture may be the next player on the move as multiple teams have reportedly asked about his availability.

Couture Yet To Play In 2023-24

That being said, Couture has yet to take the ice with the Sharks this season as he sustained an unknown injury during training camp. Luckily, it does seem as though he should be returning relatively soon.
Couture will turn 35 towards the end of the season and he has three years left on his contract after this one. He carries an 8 million dollar cap hit so it may be difficult to find a team that is willing to take on such a contract without significant salary retention, especially for a player as old as Couture. So far the center has been able to fight off father time but it is only a matter of time before his level of play starts to drop off significantly, further complicating a potential trade.
