William Nylander is getting closer and closer to being traded, as his deal continues to be unsigned. Now, the Canucks appear to be interested in the star winger.

Canucks Want a Trade

Obviously, any deal for Nylander would have to be a blockbuster level deal. Well it appears that the Canucks might be willing to pay up, as insider Eklund reports they are rumoured to be interested.
According to several sources today The Canucks have jumped into the fray on the Nylander sweeps. How much will it takes to get William?

The Canucks are interesting potential trading partners for the Leafs. They have some assets that might be enough to move the needle for Brad Treliving, but would likely depend on Nylander having an extension in place.

Mock Trade

A potential deal between the Leafs and the Canucks could look like the following:
To TOR:
Brock Boeser
Jonathan Lekkerimaki
2024 1st round pick (top 10 protected)
2024 3rd round pick

To VAN
William Nylander (8-year extension in place)
2024 5th round pick

This deal would certainly be a blockbuster. If the Leafs move Nylander, they will be looking for his replacement and more. In this deal, they get his partial replacement in Brock Boeser (55 points last season), as well as a potential future star forward in Lekkerimaki (1st round pick 2022). They'd also get some draft picks, which they desperately need.
The Leafs would certainly be taking a risk with this deal, however they would get a number of assets that could help them down the line more than letting Nylander walk for free.
