He added that even if Tampa is to be one of the top contenders for Hanifin, they lack the assets to make it happen, unlike the Leafs.
"I think we can formally rule out the Maple Leafs as a team that's in on Hanifin. You're talking Tampa..." - Frank Seravalli
"the Lightning are missing lots of assets that could be useful to the Flames in a potential deal" - also Seravalli
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames to Complete a Trade Before the Deadline?
The Calgary Flames are reportedly considering offers for many of their star players, including both Hanifin and defenseman Chris Tanev, who has caught the attention of the Leafs.
Given Hanifin's offensive capabilities, and that he's entering his peak performance years, he would be a lot more expensive to acquire than Tanev. We're talking about several first-round draft picks and other valuable assets.
With Treliving apparently looking to make his team competitive in the long haul, it would be surprising to see him part ways from top top prospects such as Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan.
The more we look at it, the less realistic a deal between both teams appears.
Do you think the Flames and the Leafs will complete a trade together?
