Kyle Dubas, since assuming leadership of the Pittsburgh Penguins, made a significant move by acquiring star defenseman Erik Karlsson. This strategy aimed to enhance the Penguins' offense at the blue line, yet Karlsson's performance has not met expectations so far.

Karlsson Gets Demoted After Disappointing Start

Rob Rossi from The Athletic reports that Karlsson has been reassigned from the first powerplay unit due to his lackluster performance early in the season.
"FWIW, Kris Letang worked with top PP unit at practice Sunday."
At 33, Karlsson has participated in 23 games this season, contributing 6 goals and 13 assists, totaling 19 points. These statistics might be satisfactory for some, but for Karlsson, who won the Norris Trophy and scored 101 points last season, adapting to his new team has been challenging.
"Erik Karlsson on playing different spots on PP — which he did at practice Monday: «I do what I think is right out there and give puck to the guy that's open.»
Karlsson's stance on maintaining his playing style and focusing on passing to open teammates might raise concerns. However, this shift in his role could potentially reignite his performance.
