Despite knowing each other for just a couple of months at most, Connor Bedard and Taylor Hall seem to be gluing together quite nicely. The latter was brought almost certainly to act as a mentor to Bedard, and that plan is working out perfectly thus far. Despite this positive impact, it seems like the start of Bedard's NHL career has been quite stressful for the youngster.
Media Pressure Getting to Bedard
According to Hall, he believes that all of the insane media presence surrounding Chicago's recent 1st overall pick is starting to affect him mentally.
"It can be a little much for him at times. He doesn't say that, but it feels like it is" - Taylor Hall
When you consider that Bedard has drawn comparisons to NHL superstars such as Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid, it's not hard to see why the media would be so crazy over him.
He's Just a Kid
While the media has a job to do, it's important to remember that Connor Bedard is still just 18 years old. Last year the young phenom was finishing up high school and is now playing on the biggest stage in the world.
While interacting with the media is a part of the job, Bedard should be allowed to adjust to the lifestyle of professional hockey without it negatively impacting him mentally.
Who knows, maybe Bedard will put out his own statement regarding the atmosphere surrounding him.
