It's being reported that Montreal Canadiens star Patrik Laine denied a trade offer before ultimately being traded to the Habs. The alleged offer was a one-for-one deal with the Philadelphia Flyers for former Flyer Ryan Johansen.

Now, this must've happened before Johansen was no longer on the Flyers' roster. He was waived with the intention of contract termination due to a «material breach.» Apparently, he went surfing while nursing a leg injury.
The 32 year-old played all 63 regular season games for the Colorado Avalanche last season before being traded to the Flyers in a deal at the NHL trade deadline. He was just starting to find his groove in Colorado before the trade but ended up being part of a package that brought the Flyers a first-round pick in exchange for veteran defenseman Sean Walker.
Laine had a ten team no-trade clause and the Flyers were one of the teams on it. For some unknown reason, the 26 year-old didn't want to be in the city of brotherly love or play for the feisty John Tortorella.
The actual trade that went down involved Montreal sending defenseman Jordan Harris and a second-round pick to Columbus.
In return, they got Laine, and also acquired a second round pick by helping the Blue Jackets clear cap space by taking on Laine's $8.7 million cap hit for the next two seasons, with Columbus not retaining any of the forward's salary.
The move bolsters the Canadiens scoring depth, and fans are eager to see how Laine will fit in with the team in a city he wants to play in.
