While the Leafs and Bruins puck drop is set for 7P.M. local time, Brad Marchand and Ryan Reaves are already getting into the spirit of the rivalry.
Reaves and Marchand exchange words
Leafs Forward Ryan Reaves had comments for Bruins Star Brad Marchand, and vice versa. Reaves spoke about prior comments by Marchand, famous for getting under people's skin, and that the team shouldn't risk taking penalties because of Marchand's comments.
Marchand responded jokingly to one of Reaves mentioning Marchand telling him he makes more money than Reaves does, saying it sounds Reaves took the comment to heart.
Both players were clearly joking mostly, playing into the Boston/Toronto rivalry, one of the strongest between the Original Six teams. Marchand will likely hear the animosity from Leafs fans after their last meeting resulted in Marchand causing an injury to Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren, who was later placed on LTIR.
Reaves, who is returning to the Leafs lineup after sitting out their last game against Seattle, was criticized along with the rest of the Leafs for a lack of a response to the Liljegren hit, and likely fans will hope to be a stronger response tonight.
