In a new interview with TSN Easton Cowan's trainer has now compared him to a pair of NHL stars who have great reputations in the league.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking for their next generation of stars to step up and provide production on cheaper contracts. One of the players looking to make that happen for the Toronto Maple Leafs is 2023 first round pick Easton Cowan.
Earlier this summer it was reported that Easton Cowan would be skipping the London Knights training camp in favor of continuing to train on his own. Now it has been revealed that Easton Cowan has been training with Trevor Williamson this summer.
In an interview with TSN Trevor Williamson spoke about Easton Cowan's offseason training. He also gave fans a pair of players to compare Easton Cowan to as he potentially begins his NHL career.
Easton Cowan's trainer compares him to two NHL stars
In the interview with TSN Trevor Williamson was asked about Easton Cowan's type of game. According to the highly respected trainer Easton Cowan likes to model his game after Travis Konecny and Bo Horvat and could eventually have that type of impact at the NHL level.
Travis Konecny, said Williamson. They're both kind of similar. Growing up he idolized guys like Konecny and Bo Horvat he models himself after them.
Both Travis Konecny and Bo Horvat are around 60-point players who impact the game in all facets. This is the type of player that Easton Cowan has been projected as since he was drafted. A great complimentary player who is willing to do the smaller things to win and could bring good leadership.
This season a roster spot could be open for the youngster after Nick Robertson is still refusing to sign in Toronto. This could allow Easton Cowan to stick on the roster in a middle-six role to get his NHL career underway.
