Emerging news is shaking up the hockey community, affecting former, current and future NHL players.

Restrictions on Athletes in TV Advertising

The famous ournalist Rick Westhead has reported that athletes will no longer be able to participate in commercials that promote gambling in Ontario.
This is what he wrote on X:
"Active and retired athletes will be banned from appearing in commercials promoting online gambling in Ontario as of Feb. 28, according to new Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario rules.

NHL stars Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky have appeared in such ads."

For those who enjoy watching hockey on TV, commercials are an integral part of the viewing experience and it's hard to ignore all the gambling ads.
Nevertheless, this restriction won't discourage gambling companies from creating advertisements. They will simply cease using athletes as endorsers for their services.
Do you think the NHL should stop promoting gambling?
