Fighting is part of the culture of hockey. No one can deny that. While the practice is far less common than it used to be, fights are still a regular occurrence in NHL games. The only people who should be fighting at games are players though, not the fans.
This past Thursday, the Oilers lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning at home 7-4. A couple of fans apparently did not take the loss well as multiple fights broke out among fans. One fight occurred in the stands themselves, while another happened on the concourse, seemingly after the game had ended.
Both of these altercations are unacceptable. They also paint the Oilers fanbase and the organization as a whole in a bad light. We understand that there is only so much arena staff can do to stop altercations, but fans should know better and take it upon themselves to not engage in them in the first place.
