London Knights Defenseman Steps Away From Hockey At 20
The London Knights announced on a post on X that defenseman Ethan MacKinnon will be taking time away from playing in the OHL. The Knights say that concussions are the cause of his need to step away.
Overage defenceman Ethan MacKinnon has announced he's stepping away from hockey due to concussion related symptoms.
Despite his playing career being put on the shelf for the time being the Knights announced that MacKinnon will remain with the team in a new role.
Knights Defenseman Moves Into A New Role After Concussions
In the announcement confirming MacKinnon's break from competition, the team announced he would stay with the team in a development coach role. MacKinnon will be a mentor and a leader within the team even though he will not be out there on game night.
The London Knights are proud to announce that Ethan will remain with the team as a Player Development coach for the remainder of the season. He will help guide and mentor the team as the Knights look ahead to the 2024 playoffs.
This role will allow MacKinnon to stay with the Knights and contribute alongside the rest of his teammates for this season. It also may lead to a new career path for MacKinnon if the partnership goes well.
