The Tampa Bay Lightning have been put into an awkward situation now that their star goalie Andre Vasilevskiy is set to miss the first two months of the season and the team is right against the hard cap ceiling.
Lightning Looking For New Goalie
NHL Trade Rumor.com has linked future hall-of-fame goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The rumor indicates that the Lightning are interested in seeking Marc-Andre Fleury's services for this upcoming season.
There are several things that would make this trade difficult. First Fleury currently has a no-trade clause meaning he could refuse a trade even if the Wild and Lighting can come to an agreement. Second, the lightning are right against the cap and Fleury currently holds a 3.5 million dollar price tag.
That being said though, Fleury put up respectable numbers last season and he has shown in this preseason that he can still be an effective goalie in the NHL. Just take a look at this shootout save against Connor Bedard.
If Fleury is willing to waive his no-movement clause, he could have one last legit shot at a Stanley Cup with the Lightning this season.
