New trade proposal sends Mitch Marner to the Detroit Red Wings
As NHL fans continue circulating rumors about a potential Mitch Marner trade, a new trade proposal would send the Toronto Maple Leafs forward to Detroit.
Mitch Marner has been the source of anger for many Toronto Maple Leafs Fans for years. With the Core Four forward hitting free agency at the end of the upcoming season, many fans and analysts have speculated Marner could head elsewhere sooner rather than later. Analyst Stu Grimson reported that though he believes Marner has proven himself, he could bring in massive value if traded.
"It will be a haul. I've got to believe there'll be a solid established impact player, NHL player as part of the mix and perhaps you know maybe a mix of assets sorry picks and prospects to accompany a Marner erhaps, but it shouldn't be a rich return."
Recently, one fan shared their Mitch Marner trade proposal on PuckPedia, sending the forward to the Detroit Red Wings. In exchange, the Toronto Maple Leafs would receive Lucas Raymond (RW), Jonatan Berggren (RW), William Wallinder (D), and a 2025 second-round draft pick.
Raymond and Berggren are currently restricted free agents, meaning they must get a contract before being involved in any trade. All three offers were last on contract for $925k AAV each, while Marner is nearing $11 million.
Lucas Raymond shows the most promise in bringing value to Toronto. The 2020 fourth-overall draft pick recorded 31 goals and 71 total points in 82 games last season, proving he can score closer to the Maple Leafs forward 's level. However, with both parties hoping to reach a deal, it will likely become one more Detroit pipe dream proposal.
