Friedman Sheds Light on Nylander's Situation

The insider revealed that The Leafs have thought about trading Nylander earlier this summer. He was on the trade block for a while, but the right offer never came, and the 27-year-old forward is still in Toronto.
"I think the Maple Leafs just decided [to keep him for this year] I think they looked at trading him. I don't think they liked what was out there.

I mean, he did score 40 goals last year. He's a really talented guy and in the playoffs, he was involved in a couple of their really successful moments against Tampa Bay. I think they know that and recognize that; they didn't like what was out there [in the trade market]."

The Fate of Nylander

When Nylander spoke to Friedman last week, he reiterated his wish to continue his career in Toronto. After all, this is the team that drafted him in 2014. The 8th overall pick of that year has score 177 goals and 253 assists in 521 NHL games since then.
Although Brad Treliving has the option to trade him for a noteworthy return, there are no signs pointing in that direction as of now.
A trade at the deadline is a possible scenario if no agreement is reached by then.
Let's not forget that Nylander brings a lot to the table and could be a great asset for them in the playoffs, which could influence Treliving's decision.
Do you think Nylander will be traded during the season?
